Traffic Fatality

On Sunday, November 4, 2007, at approximately 8:45 p.m., a traffic fatality involving a motorcycle occurred on Pacific Coast Highway near Studebaker Road.

A 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle, driven by 27-year-old Juan Pena of Downey, was traveling northbound on Pacific Coast Highway when he lost control and struck the guardrail near the San Gabriel Bridge. Victim Pena sustained major head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to a witness, he was driving erratically and at a high rate of speed at the time of the collision.

The collision is being investigated by Detective Brian Watt of the Long Beach Police Department's Accident Investigations Detail.
